About this blog

The name of this blog is small alley. As in an alley, I hope to post a variety of things that I find interesting and as you walk through the alley, you would find things that you like.

I have posted some songs that I wrote. I am not a great singer. I sing and play the guitar purely for fun and I hope people who thinks they can't sing can be inspired by me. No former singing lessons and no former guitar training. Just pure fun......

The recording is also done at home with a drum machine and one guitar through a small amp. The sound file has been touched up slightly by removing the noise. Otherwise the songs are as original as it gets.

I practise Taiji regularly. For me, it is a great exercise requiring control of mind and body to perform well and for it to be enjoyable. You can get more videos of Taiji from YouTube.

Other posts include places and events that I think are interesting and more important, which I have time to upload.

Enjoy your walk through this small alley.....

The St Michael's Way

I did the St Michael's Way today - to prepare for my Santiago de Compostella walk later in the month.

It was a full-dressed rehearsal for me - with about 15 kg of bagpack load.

The walk is not as popular as Santiago de Compestella but the stamps can be counted.  I did not meet anyone along the way doing the walk.

I started the walk at St Uny's Church at Lelant at 10.30 am and had planned to reach St Michael's Mount at about 4 pm.  However the route was totally new to me and I think the journey to Bowl Rock was challenging from time to time.  You can see pictures of what I went through below.

I had to use GPS for a small part of the journey as some sign posts are far apart.  Please note that you may not have telephone reception in the open fields.

I highly recommend getting the guidebook for the journey.  It was very helpful to me.

Halfway through the journey, my right ankle began to hurt.  That slowed my progress down.

I also did the walk in sandals as I think it is most comfortable for me.

Check out the St Michael's Way website for detail.

There are many nice scenaries along the way.

We went visited St Michael's Mount on 16th Jun - completing my St Michael's Way.  Also attended the Anglican service in the chapel.  The service is very similar to the Catholic Mass - but shorter and they don't knee.
